German experts on infectious diseases are helping to contain a yellow fever epidemic in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The specialists from the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM) and the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) are working with a mobile laboratory. It is the first mission of the European Medical Corps, an initiative that was established in the wake of the Ebola crisis. Germany is providing an isolation hospital for the treatment of highly infectious patients, logistical-technical support for medical teams and the mobile laboratory to support the mission.
