Berlin is colourful
Canadian embassy collaborates with German partners to strengthen LGBT rights.

Canada’s Ambassador to Germany pinned her colours to the mast: together with Berlin’s Mayor Michael Müller Marie Gervais-Vidricaire opened Christopher Street Day, and spoke up for the rights of LGBT people. Quoting Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who attended the Toronto Pride parade, the ambassador said: “Everyone deserves to live free of stigma, persecution, and discrimination – no matter who they are or whom they love.” In the week prior to Christopher Street Day the embassy teamed up with the Dutch embassy to host a seminar on promoting equal rights for LGBT people globally in collaboration with Human Rights Watch, the Salzburg Global LGBT Forum, the Rainbow Group of the German Federal Foreign Office and the German foundations “Prout at Work” and the Hirschfeld-Eddy Foundation.
