Hall of fame of strong women

Regina Halmich, long-standing female world professional boxing champion, has been accepted as one of seven founder members of the new International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame in Fort Lauderdale. Now 37 years old, she became WIBF world flyweight champion in 1995. Up to her retirement in November 2007 she successfully defended this title 44 times. “Regina Halmich brought the sport of female boxing to sold out popularity in Germany while also establishing credibility for the sport throughout Europe,” says the Hall of Fame statement. Today Halmich writes fitness guides, works as a presenter, and supports charity projects.
