They are places of encounter that promote friendship between Germany and Poland: the International Youth Meeting Centre in Auschwitz and the Brandenburg Education and Exchange Centre Schloss Trebnitz have been awarded the 2014 German-Polish Prize for their efforts. The two prize winners stand for the future of crossborder relations, says Dietmar Woidke (left in photograph). The Minister President of Brandenburg is
co-chairman of the award committee with Władysław Bartoszewski (right).

The International Youth Meeting Centre Auschwitz and the Education and
Exchange Centre Schloss Trebnitz have something in common: “In both, young people meet and gain mutual understanding of each other’s past and present. Such places
of encounter lay the foundations that enable good neighbourliness to thrive not only in the border region but also between Germans and Poles.”
