Berlin (dpa) -  100 days into the new US administration under President Joe Biden, Foreign Minister Heiko Maas is seeing growing consensus with the country’s allies again. In the "Atlantic Talk" event series of the German Atlantic Society (DAG), Maas said on Monday that it already "feels like I have spoken with my counterpart more often than I did with his predecessor during his entire term in office", following four years in which the German government was no longer consulted on key issues.

When it comes to major international problems, he said, the same conclusions tend to be reached. "Not in all cases, but that was not the case in the past either, and in this respect, it seems to me that almost everything has changed in the relationship with the USA since Joe Biden took office, and for the better," Maas said. However, he reiterated the German government's intention to stick to the completion of the Nordstream 2 gas pipeline, which is controversial in Washington.
