Launch of the German High-Tech Agenda
Driving innovation: the High-Tech Agenda presented by the Federal Government in summer is to be implemented starting today.
Berlin (d.de) – The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space Travel is launching the so-called German High-Tech Agenda with a kick-off event held in Berlin today. The agenda is Germany’s mission to take specific measures designed to help the country regain its position as a global leader. Clear guidelines have been drawn up for research and development in the following six key technologies: artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, microelectronics, biotechnology, fusion research and climate-neutral energy generation, and climate-neutral mobility technologies.
“We are taking Germany to the next level. We want ‘Made in Germany’ to be acknowledged globally as a mark of excellence in technology,” Research Minister Dorothee Bär said.
She added that it was essential to make progress in the area of artificial intelligence, among other things, explaining that computing power and access to data and AI models were crucial factors when it came to developing new and powerful AI technologies.
Quite fittingly, it was also announced yesterday that Deutsche Telekom and the US chip corporation Nvidia plan to build a large data centre in Munich. This project in Bavaria’s capital city will comprise around 10,000 computing units, according to the Bavarian Ministry of Economics.
