Germany bags numerous medals at FEI World Championships

500,000 fans thrilled by Team Germany’s wins in Aachen. The numerous medals bode well for the Olympics.

Aachen (dpa) - The head of the German Equestrian Federation has described the FEI World Championships as “a new summer fairy tale”. Half a million spectators in Aachen and the undisputed number one spot in the medals table made Dennis Peiler “happy and grateful”. Not to mention optimistic about the Olympic Games in Los Angeles. In Aachen, the German team’s victory was more unequivocal and came earlier than in any previous World Championships.

“What was particularly impressive was the broad range of these successes across Olympic, Paralympic and non-Olympic disciplines,” enthused Peiler. “We won a total of 20 medals in all. This underlines the strength of German equestrian sport at all levels.”

The numerous medals won at the FEI World Championships bode well for more Olympic glory - as was last achieved at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. In the frenzy of medal-winning in Aachen, Team Germany qualified for the Olympics in dressage, show jumping and eventing almost as a side effect. “I am very confident that we will also perform at this level in LA”, says Peiler.
