05.10.2016

Srini Gopalan will become a member of the Deutsche Telekom Board for Europe on 1 January 2017, following a three-month familiarisation period.
The group has 156 million mobile customers, 29 million fixed-network lines
and 18 million broadband lines, making it one of the world’s leading
telecommunications companies. Its European business is regarded as its
strategic core. Gopalan is currently at the Indian telco Bharti Airtel Limited, where he has been Consumer Director India. His main focus was on using innovative offerings to differentiate Airtel in an otherwise highly price sensitive market. Before joining Bharti Airtel, Gopalan worked in the UK for over ten years, including for a former Telekom subsidiary. “Srini Gopalan brings a number of advantages: he knows the company and the industry, he has international experience and the right attitude,“ says Ulrich Lehner, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Telekom.
