Discretion is a matter of honour. Bremen shipbuilder Lürssen is a global market leader in the construction of mega yachts. With a clientele as exclusive as the boats it builds, the company publishes neither pictures of the yachts nor the names of the customers if confidentiality is desired. But this much may be revealed: the tradition-steeped shipyard built the world’s first motorboat in 1886. The company gained international renown thanks to the Lürssen Effect, which uses a special hydrodynamic feature to improve a boat’s handling. Today, the family-run business has a 1,400-strong workforce.
