Ideas for the city of tomorrow
The German Habitat Forum in Berlin will be focusing on the future of cities. The meeting is in preparation for the United Nations Habitat Conference in Quito this October.

Cities play a crucial role when it comes to climate change mitigation. It is cities that generate the largest quantities of harmful greenhouse gases, and cities that have the greatest scope for lowering emissions. How cities should best be designed to meet future needs is therefore the focus of the German Habitat Forum taking place in Berlin on 1 and 2 June 2016. Organized by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the State of Berlin, the conference will be one of several meetings of international experts being held in the run-up to the Habitat III World Conference to be staged by the United Nations from 17 to 20 October 2016 in Quito, the Ecuadorian capital.
