A solar cell breaks all world records
A new solar cell with an efficiency of 44.7 percent.

Mighty midget. A solar cell that concentrates light almost 300 times as much as sunlight: this innovation has been developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in collaboration with Soitec, CEA-Leti and the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin. This means the researchers have set a new world record for the conversion of sunlight into electrical current. 44.7 percent of the total energy in the solar spectrum is converted into electric energy.
