Art cinema – great solo for Cate Blanchett

Hollywood-star Cate Blanchett plays all the roles in the German film-collage Manifesto.

12.04.2016

She sings, speaks, declaims, plays a homeless mea, a teacher, a broker, a funeral orator.
Hollywood-star Cate Blanchett takes on 13 roles in 12 films in Manifesto, a film-collage by Berlin artist Julian Rosefeldt. Her text consists of passages from historical artists’ manifestos by movements such as Futurism, Dadaism and Pop Art. These texts wanted something – to invoke freedom, to change society, to reconsider creativity – and they are surprisingly relevant today. The Berlin museum Hamburger Bahnhof is showing the film until 10 July 2016.
