“I’m going to take each step deliberately and take my time”
Nacho Duato is the new Artistic Director of the Staatsballett Berlin.
Spanish choreographer Nacho Duato has assumed the position of Artistic Director of the Staatsballett Berlin. “I’m going to take each step deliberately and take time to get to know the company in the coming months,” says Duato, outlining his plans. “The Sleeping Beauty” will be the first premiere of the season, in February 2015. For the past three years, Nacho Duato was Artistic Director of the ballet at the Mikhailovsky Theatre of St. Petersburg. Prior to that, he led the Compañía Nacional de Danza in Madrid for 20 years. Some of Duato’s choreographies have made it into the programmes of the world’s leading ballet companies.
