Very close to heaven
The British sculptor Tony Cragg exhibits his sculptures in a former synagogue.

With two of his floor-to-ceiling wooden sculptures, the British sculptor Tony Cragg is pointing back into the future. The setting in which they can currently be admired is a historic one: the former Stommeln Synagogue is one of the few synagogues in Germany not to be destroyed during the Nazi pogroms in 1938. The artist regards his work as a statement that points clearly into the future, however, and as one that reflects on the power of art.
