Four years ago Conni Biesalski was one of the first women in Germany to turn into reality a life plan that involved being continually on the move and earning a living from it. With “Planet Backpack” (A Life of Blue) she set up one of the largest and most successful travel blogs in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. She has written an e-book called “Digital-Unabhängig-Frei” (The Art of Being A World Nomad) – one of today’s leading guides for digital nomads. And whenever she is invited to talk about her experiences, Conni Biesalski recalls how, within the space of four years, she has managed to earn a six-digit figure a year with a blog and online coaching, as well as with advertising and “affiliate marketing”.

Form the provinces to the big wide world

Conni Biesalski was born and raised in a small town in Bavaria, enjoyed travelling the world while still a youngster, spent a year at a high school in the USA, and took her A-levels in England. She studied Communication and Media in Salzburg, Austria and afterwards landed a position as a graduate trainee in a renowned PR agency in Berlin. She previously spent some time earning a living as a diving instructor in Indonesia and Australia. After a mere eight months though she loathed everyday office work, so handed in her notice, set up on her own, and two years down the road was already enjoying great success.

Guide to a better life

But that is not all that counts. On the contrary; her publications read like a guide to a better life. She trained as a yoga teacher, is a vegan, and meditates every day. If she is not feeling too good she shares it with her tribe fans and gets a lot of encouragement. “You mustn’t hide, you have to do something that nobody else is, and live a complete lifestyle design,” is her tip for success as a digital nomad. For her, freedom, and that includes financial, means “being able at any time to take the next plane to where I want to go”. She calls herself a digital Zen nomad and a spiritual freedom junkie. “My home is my rucksack, my office the world, yoga and vegan nutrition my religion”, is one of her mindsets. She wants to inspire people to “live a fulfilling, healthy life wherever they want”. This way she has already visited more than 60 countries on five continents, always only taking hand luggage with her. At the moment she is living in Medellin in Colombia, where she is updating her e-book course and upgrading her YouTube channel.
