The networkers

Marcus Meurer and Felicia Hargarten network the digital nomad scene and make a living from it.

Marcus Meurer actually had a good job as an online marketing manager with a big German online company. Yet with projects that were becoming ever bigger, and increasing responsibility, he also came to realise that in the long run a classic career was not going to make him happy. At the end of 2012 he handed in his notice and spent six months travelling round southeast Asia with his girlfriend Felicia Hargarten. There they rediscovered freedom, self-determination – and entrepreneurial creativity.

On the road but creative nonetheless

Felicia Hargarten is one of today’s best-known German travel bloggers (www.travelicia.de), while Marcus Meurer advises companies online about marketing, and beginners about how to set up a company they can run anywhere (www.lifehackz.co). Lots of sport and healthy food are part of the lifestyle. They both love kitesurfing, diving, and the beach – most of all in southeast Asia, Brazil, or southern Europe.

In May in Berlin

In order to share this experience with other people, Meurer and his partner Felicia Hargarten launched and organize the annual Digital Nomad Conference DNX. The next one will take place on 27 and 28 May 2017 in Berlin. Over 700 like-minded people will meet there and find out about the latest trends and business ideas. And because digital nomads are always on the road, the conference is now also held in Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Mexico, and Thailand. He has also set up the first exchange for jobs that are independent of location and is providing initial help himself in the form of “Force M”, an assistance and financing portal for digital nomads.
