Creative lab
for the city of
tomorrow

The Goethe-Institut and Urbane Künste Ruhr are bringing together creative Europeans – in a search for ideas on the future of urban life.

18.01.2016

Ideas on the future of urban life are in demand
at “ACTOPOLIS – The Art of Action”. However, drafts are not to be created and implemented in individual cities; rather they should emerge from cooperation between creative Europeans, say project co-organisers Goethe-Institut and Urbane Künste Ruhr.

This is why they are bringing people together from Oberhausen in the Ruhr area and from six cities in south-eastern Europe: Ankara, Athens, Belgrade, Bucharest, Sarajevo and Zagreb. In a three-year “transnational production laboratory” at different locations they will develop innovative future models for living together in the urban space. The project was launched in
the autumn of 2015 at Theater Oberhausen. Now the European search for ideas is entering the next round.
