Long Night of Ideas
As part of the “Moving People” Forum, the German Foreign Office has organized a “Long Night of Ideas” at 15 distinctive locations of Berlin’s cultural landscape.
Digitalization, inclusion, gaming: on the “Long Night of Ideas” on the evening of 14 April 2016 hundreds of schoolchildren, teachers and alumni of German schools abroad and partner schools will gain a glimpse into the future of, and take up new questions in, foreign cultural and educational policy. The night of ideas is part of the “Moving People” Forum, to which the Foreign Ministry has invited representatives of foreign cultural and educational policy (Auswärtige Kultur- und Bildungspolitik / AKBP) and German schools abroad and partner schools on 13 – 15 April 2016. Other interested parties can also participate in the Long Night after registering at the website https://www.menschenbewegen-2016.de/akbp/ and for the relevant event.
Theatre, museums, football
On the Long Night, theatre performances, guided tours, discussions and talks will take place at 15 distinctive venues of the Berlin cultural landscape. The Maxim Gorki Theatre, for example, will open its stage for discussion about the task of theatre in times of social change. It will also present the play Common Ground by the Israeli resident director Yael Ronen.
Several Berlin museums are also taking part in the action: at the Museum of Natural History, visitors will first go on a voyage of discovery through the museum collections, then discuss with experts the preservation of diversity, concepts and strategies of digitalization and the scope and limits of international cooperation. At the German Museum of Technology the theme will be the creative potential of games and how they can contribute to education. Here schoolchildren can themselves discover, try and play diverse “creative gaming stations”.
The world of films for young people
Together with Martin Ganguly, director of the school project of the Berlinale and lecturer in teacher education at the Technical University of Berlin, the Goethe-Institut has organized an interactive film evening for schoolchildren of the global PASCH Partner School Network and interested schoolchildren from Berlin. As introduction, a film project that arose as part of the PASCH initiative will be presented, then followed by a viewing of a German film for young people at Cinema Paris.
“Streetfootballworld“, with the former German national team player and football ambassador Nia Künzer, is about sports as an important contribution to teaching values and conflict prevention. By means of football, the project aims to improve social structures around the world, working closely with hundreds of communal organizations.
