This is where the future leaders will be trained: With the seven centres of excellence in Africa, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Federal Foreign Office are providing top-notch Master’s and Ph.D. programmes. Alongside disciplines such as development research and criminal justice, the focus is, for example, on microfinancing and logistics. At present, two further centres of excellence are being prepared.

Superbly produced films show the opportunities training at one of the DAAD centres of excellence offers and exactly how African and German academics teach and research collaboratively across various fields – and how the collaboration gives rise to networks between Africa and Germany. At present the video clips on four of the seven centres of excellence are available online at www.african-excellence.de, and a further three are set to follow in 2016. The films are in English, and there are versions with English and with German subtitles.
