Emmanuelle Charpentier works in north Germany – and is internationally renowned.

She is French, one of the world’s leading experts on infection, and holds one of Germany’s most prestigious professorships: the Humboldt Professorship. Emmanuelle Charpentier’s research is based in north Germany. She heads the Department of Regulation in Infection Biology at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research in Braunschweig and lectures at Hanover Medical School. She is also excellently networked internationally. For example, she has worked in the USA and Austria, is a visiting professor in Sweden, and recently became a member of the renowned European Molecular Biology Organization.
