Start-up duo from Hamburg sets new fast food trend.
SPECIALTY. Nicole and Timo Winkel’s adventure into selling döner kebab in the USA started just before the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The cheerful impressions of the event in Germany helped them to popularize the German-Turkish speciality with their traveling fast-food truck. Today, the Winkels have put down their gastronomic roots and run successful eateries in Leesburg, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. But the adventure is about to continue: their next restaurants will open in Frederick, Maryland.
