Changes in the sky
Lufthansa is restructuring to offer cheaper flights and more luxury.

At the beginning of 2015, Lufthansa subsidiary Germanwings took over all Lufthansa’s European flights, apart from those to and from the Frankfurt and Munich hubs. Germanwings flies 20% cheaper than its parent company. Lufthansa plans to do something similar with Eurowings on long-haul flights. In future, neither business nor premium economy class will be available. As a result, aircraft will have over 90 more seats on board than is the case with its four-class configuration. Lufthansa itself aims to improve its service and become a five-star airline. This restructuring makes Lufthansa the first airline to respond to European low-cost services and state airlines from the Gulf region.
