Economy: For high social welfare standards

Many companies in germany have realized that sustainability offers economic opportunities. Adhering to ecological and social welfare standards is now an equal part of their corporate philosophies and business models alike.

Fair trade: For work that is paid fairly

Consumers can have a considerable influence on what products are on the shelves in shops. Enlightened consumers demand information on international trading activities, and on what articles are the product of fair trade – on the basis of dialogue, transparency and mutual respect.

Global compact: For companies with principles

Companies also bear social and ecological responsibilities. This commitment is particularly evident among the member companies of the “global compact initiative”. With its national action plan “business and human rights”, the federal government seeks to ensure the corresponding un principles have strong roots in germany.

Research institute with an international reputation

What impact does globalization have? How are conflicts over resources solved? The researchers at the renowned GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies in Hamburg focus on these and other questions. Amrita Narlikar has been its director since 2014.

Textile industry: To preserve human dignity at work

Social and ecological responsibility go hand in hand. The “Alliance for Sustainable Textiles” aims to achieve real improvements for people working in the textile and clothing industry in both regards. 64 companies, initiatives, trade unions as well as scientific and political institutions are members of the Alliance for Sustainable Textiles.

World economy: For global trade

Not everyone benefits from the global networking of trade. Above all in developing countries, the economy is not always competitive. Institutions such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) or the KfW Banking Group therefore make funds available for projects and thus help keep things balanced.
