New exchange programme for young people
The German-African Youth Association brings young people together and promotes dialogue.

Important aims of the German-African Youth Association (DAJ) are to create scope for exchange, build intercultural bridges and master tasks for the future jointly. The new exchange programme for young Africans and Germans was started at the end of June 2016 at the behest of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the African Union Commission (AUC).
Before the DAJ came into being, individuals or school groups already had contact. Now the BMZ is cooperating with other social groups: youth groups – scouts, sports clubs or music groups – meet and work together on themes such as climate change, poverty or their respective images of Germany and Africa. The exchange is initially with three pilot countries: Benin, Tanzania and South Africa.
