Germany is strengthening the fight against terrorism with a series of legal reforms. Among other things, the financing of terrorist activities will become a separate criminal offence. Furthermore, it will be possible to prevent radical Islamists from travelling to countries where there are terrorist training camps. Here the Federal Government is implementing a United Nations resolution dating from 2014. “We will have one of the strictest anti-terrorism laws in the whole of Europe,” says Federal Justice Minister Heiko Maas. “Nevertheless, we must never lose our sense of proportion.”
