Bechstein – the art of perfect sound
The name of C. Bechstein stands for perfection in the manufacture of grand pianos. The company continues to produce in Europe.

GRAND INSPIRATION. The French composer Claude Debussy adored their sound and precision, and said: “We should write piano music purely for Bechsteins.” And he is by no means the only virtuoso to have been so inspired by Bechstein in the company’s 160-year history. In 1853, Carl Bechstein founded the pianoforte factory in Berlin and gave the beautiful instruments his name: C. Bechstein. Ever since, Bechstein has been manufacturing top-quality grand pianos and uprights. Today, the art of perfect sound is created by a combination of craftsmanship and state-of-the-art technology. The instruments are made in Saxony and the Czech Republic and sold worldwide. Bechstein is Europe’s largest grand and upright piano producer. In its jubilee year 2013 the company has a special present in store: the new Carl Bechstein Foundation in Berlin wants to inspire especially children and young people for piano music and playing.
