New national poets
The Berlin project “Wozu Poesie?” is showing 47 photographs of poets from 47 countries.
A QUESTION OF POETRY. “Why poetry?” is the name of a photographic case study which is being presented by Literaturwerkstatt Berlin at the Academy of the Arts in June: 47 large-format photographs of 47 poets from 47 countries. The poets in the photographs are wearing masks and carrying banners with a slogan that provides information about the state of culture and society in their respective country: What does poetry convey? What status does poetry have in their country? The project was organized within the framework of the Berlin Poetry Festival and one special condition was that it could be adopted by other countries at no significant cost and stimulate pan-European dialogue.
