Dieu Linh Bui wins writing competition
The Vietnamese entrant’s heart-warming entry in the Goethe Institut’s competition was impressive.
Dieu Linh Bui from Vietnam has won Goethe-Institut’s international writing competition. People from around the world who were not born in Germany were invited to submit stories on their favourite place in Germany. Dieu Linh Bui’s text was selected from 1,200 entries received from about 100 countries as the most beautiful and fascinating story. It starts “In the library at Augsburg University there is a seat by the window. The sun used to shine there every morning. It certainly was an ideal seat for me...“ and continues: “Augsburg in autumn was cooler than Southeast Asia. I wanted to sit in the sun because I felt a bit cold...“
