An attractive place to study
Germany woos international students.
Germany is an attractive alternative. In the global competition for the world’s best minds there is no denying the lead enjoyed by two English-speaking countries, the USA and the UK, but Germany is catching up. When it comes to the number of foreign students, according to the latest OECD education report, Germany now ranks third with 272,696 registered students, pushing Australia into fourth place. Germany has long since established itself as the most popular non-English-speaking host country for international students. But that is no reason for sitting on your laurels: the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) aims to attract at least 350,000 international students to Germany by 2020; their academic success should continue to increase significantly.
