“It was Unternehmer ohne Grenzen that gave me the impetus to succeed. I managed it with their support. The Hamburg-based association, which was founded in 2000 by entrepreneurs of different nationalities, helps people with migrant backgrounds to set up their own business – especially
women. In the meantime the city has also realised how important foreign business founders are and just recently exhibited success stories in the town hall. I now have my own office for construction planning and energy consulting. While I was at school in Iran I was already very interested in forms, lines, materials and colours.
After studying architecture I completed an additional training programme as an energy consultant. That is the future. What I like about Hamburg is its cosmopolitan character, especially in the Schanzenviertel. There’s always something going on there. What I like about the people is that they
are dependable. They clearly say what they want – and don’t change their mind.”
