Taking action against allergies

Pollen, perfume, and horsehair – almost every third person in Germany suffers from some kind of allergy, and that figure is on the rise. The German Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection provides information on this widespread problem with an "Action Plan Against Allergies". A central web portal on the Internet addresses everyone who is plagued by itching eyes, rashes or hives.

Alcoholics Anonymous

“Placing principles before personalities” – is one of the main ideas behind Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Founded in the USA in 1935, the organization in Germany now includes more than 2,400 groups. Based on the motto of “helping others by learning more about oneself”, the group members work together to free themselves of their addiction.

German National Association of Self-Help for the Physically Disabled

Equality for and the integration of people with physical disabilities are the aims of the National Association of Self-Help for the Physically Disabled (BSK – Bundesverband Selbsthilfe Körperbehinderter e.V.) in Germany. This organization works towards dismantling social and political barriers to the physically disabled, in particular in the working environment and housing.

Vital Help

Life with the mentally handicapped supposes a special challenge for their families. The Federal Association Vital Help for the Mentally Handicapped (Bundesvereinigung Lebenshilfe für Menschen mit geistiger Behinderung e.V.) was founded in 1958 by parents and professionals in order to exchange experiences and to defend the personal rights of the mentally handicapped.
