Berlin (d.de) - With a ceremony in the Weltsaal of the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin, the “kulturweit” voluntary service is celebrating its 15th anniversary. The programme has so far enabled more than 6,000 young people to spend a year volunteering abroad. They mainly work in institutions relating to foreign cultural relations and education policy. “kulturweit” also offers young people from abroad the chance to do an internship in German cultural and educational institutions, however. Current programmes are targeted particularly at women from North Africa and the Middle East and at young people from sub-Saharan Africa.

On behalf of the Federal Foreign Office, Minister of State Katja Keul will receive not only the “kulturweit” team, the German Commission for UNESCO and numerous “kulturweit” volunteers at the ceremony, but also representatives of the diplomatic corps and a group of “kulturweit incoming” participants who are visiting Germany at the moment.
