Reiche: strengthening Germany as an AI hub
Minister for Economic Affairs Katherina Reiche believes that artificial intelligence offers great opportunities. An expert commission was set up to establish the best strategy for Germany.
Berlin (d.de) – Aiming to strengthen Germany as an AI hub, Minister for Economic Affairs Katherina Reiche plans to draw up recommendations for action with the help of the new expert commission “Competition and Artificial Intelligence”. The commission started its work yesterday with a meeting focussing on powerful AI infrastructure and digital sovereignty.
“Artificial intelligence marks the start of a new era, as it will fundamentally change the ways in which we think, work and live,” Ms Reiche said. The minister thinks of AI as “an opportunity to promote prosperity, growth and progress”. She continued by saying that it was key to “play a leading role and to consistently use our strengths to hold our ground in global competition”.
The commission comprises 15 esteemed experts from the areas of business, academia and associations. Digital Minister Karsten Wildberger and Rafael Laguna de la Vera, the director of the Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovation, will be joining the commission as guests to provide additional impulses.
