Frankfurt/Main (dpa) – The Public Prosecutor General’s Office in Frankfurt am Main and the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) have shut down two international cybercrime forums with millions of users. According to the public prosecutor’s office, they were the world’s largest trading platforms for cybercrime on the internet. More than ten million users were registered on the platforms “nulled.to” and “cracked.io”.

Led by the German authorities, the international police operation also involved the USA, Australia, Spain, Greece, Romania, Italy and France. Eight people were arrested. According to the authorities, the platforms’ uses included trading in programmes for preparing or carrying out hacking attacks on individuals and companies and publishing or selling data that had been stolen from institutions and companies.
