Germany. 2017 is an outstanding year for art, with art lovers from all over the world travelling to Europe – and especially to Germany – to visit renowned festivals that are only held every few years and will all be coinciding in 2017: the Documenta in Kassel, Sculpture Projects in Münster and the Biennale in Venice.

Many visitors will also take a detour to Hanover, where “Produktion. Made in Germany Drei” will be on show in three museums and exhibition venues. Since 2007, the exhibition has taken place in parallel to the Documenta, showcasing the diverse and internationally influenced art scene in Germany. Here are three artists whose names are well worth remembering:

Daniel Knorr
Born in Bucharest, Daniel Knorr is a Berlin-based artist who explores topical issues such as the economic upheavals in Europe or climate change.  In the “Made in Germany” exhibition, a stone snowman warns against the consequences of global warming.

Juliette Blightman
We cross a green carpet – as if passing through her front garden – to reach Juliette Blightman’s video diary “Portraits and Repetition” which features images from the public and private lives of this Berlin-based British artist. The impressions are presented in no particular order and highlight the synchrony of communication in the digital age.

Amy Lien and Enzo Camacho
Amy is from the USA and Enzo is from the Philippines, but both live and work in Berlin, New York and Manila. Their work is focused primarily on globalisation, call centres in Manila and the Berlin Wall also playing a part. In Hanover they use a model railway to link places that are particularly affected by globalisation.
