Strengthening democracy
Transformation, election monitoring and good governance: Germany supports social transformations in many countries.

Election monitoring: For free and equal elections
Free and equal elections are essential to build trust in democracy. Germany too regularly dispatches observers to monitor events before and during important voting in an effort to forestall and prevent electoral fraud and vote rigging.
Transformation: For more democracy and participation
Germany supports the socio-political and cultural change in Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan and other Arabic states and has entered into transformational partnerships with them.

Freedom of communication: For the right to express an opinion
In many countries it is still not possible for people to openly voice their opinions without having to fear repression. Political and social actors in Germany feel compelled to document violations of the human right to freedom of expression and demand a rethink.
Sound government leadership: For more transparency and law
The rule of law, a transparent financial policy and the sustainable use of resources are among the central elements of good governance. Germany promotes reforms to this end in an advisory capacity.
