(d.de) – Germany has once again joined efforts to provide humanitarian aid to the civilian population in the Gaza Strip. In a joint operation by the Ministry of Defence and the Federal Foreign Office, the first two airdrops were successfully carried out over Gaza on 1 August, delivering a total of 34 pallets. These included around 14 tonnes of food and medical supplies.

Defence Minister Boris Pistorius stressed the urgency of the situation: “For many people in Gaza – including children – it’s a matter of sheer survival.” He also called on Israel to ensure full access for humanitarian aid. Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated on X: “We know that airdrops are only a small contribution towards easing the suffering of people in Gaza. This is why we are continuing to work intensively to enable aid to reach them by land.”
