Steinmeier: Hostility to others must never be allowed to become normalised
Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier sends New Year greetings to Jewish communities.

Berlin (d.de) – Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has sent his best wishes to Jewish communities in Germany on the occasion of the Jewish New Year, which begins on Monday. “In marking Rosh Hashanah, I warmly wish you, your loved ones and the entire Jewish community in Germany all the very best,” Steinmeier said in a message of greeting. The Federal President voiced concern over rising antisemitism in Germany, stressing that hatred of Jews and hostility to others must never be allowed to become normalised. He also paid tribute to Holocaust survivor Margot Friedländer, who died in Berlin on 9 May this year at the age of 103. Friedländer had been a role model in her commitment to tolerance, democracy and humanity, Steinmeier said.
