He is friendly, efficient and strict – ideal qualities for a manager. Yet he would never wear a suit; instead he carries lots of cables around with him. We’re talking about the kind of robot that could replace some managers. According to a study by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, robots could soon be made responsible for some operational processes in addition to production tasks. Whether you’re a human or a
robot, if you have a boss, you also have a job. And people are increasingly using the Internet to look for a new boss. A study by
the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University shows that more than 40% of job seekers in Germany use social networks like Xing to find a new position. The Web is also becoming increasingly important for employers: 42% of companies in Germany
try to recruit staff online. According to a study carried out by the human resources consultancy ManpowerGroup, 31% of interested parties choose to send in their applications by email. ▪
