The first test drivers of the VW XL1 are already out and about on the German motorways.

Economical sportster. What looks like a futuristic design study is already what the industry describes as a “close-to-production version” – in other words, almost a reality. The first test drivers are already on the road with the VW XL1. The aerodynamic supercar only uses 0.9 litres of diesel per 100 km when driving at 100 km/h – which would make it the world’s most economical mass-produced car. Thanks to a plug-in hybrid system, the two-seater can drive up to 50 kilometres on electric power alone.
