German private households support the energy transition
KfW study: 12.9 million households are already using green technologies.
Frankfurt/Main (dpa) – The energy transition is progressing in German residential buildings. Just under a third (31 percent) of private households already use at least one of the relevant energy transition technologies, according to the “Energy Transition Barometer” published by the state-owned bank KfW. That is 12.9 million households. Photovoltaic systems are particularly widespread: 15 percent of households already have one installed. A further 6 percent of households intend to purchase at least one energy transition technology in the next twelve months. Here the KfW includes heat pumps, photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, battery storage, combined heat and power, wood pellet heating and electric cars, all of which are designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. According to a KfW survey, some 82 percent of the population consider the energy transition to be important or very important.
