IAA motor show opens in Munich
At the world’s largest mobility platform, visitors will be introduced to the latest trends. German manufacturers are pinning their hopes on electric cars.

Munich (dpa/d.de) – New sensors and driver-assistance systems, more efficient electronics and sustainable materials: the IAA Mobility 2025 motor show has opened in Munich today. Around 750 exhibitors will be appearing at the show, which by its own account is the world’s leading mobility platform, with more than 500,000 visitors from 110 countries expected to attend. Visitors have until Friday to learn all about industry trends and the latest models.
German car manufacturers such as Mercedes, BMW and VW are pinning their hopes on new electric models and innovative technology. For example, BMW is unveiling the iX3, the first series-produced model in its Neue Klasse (New Class), which it claims has a range of up to 800 kilometres. In its electric GLC, Mercedes-Benz has fitted a roughly one-metre-wide screen, which it says is the largest screen to date in any model manufactured by the Stuttgart firm.
Technological innovations characterise the industry’s future: in future, pedals and the steering wheel will send commands in the form of electric signals to motors that will move the brakes and wheels. This will save weight, increase flexibility in the vehicle’s interior and enable quick and precise reactions.
