Wiesbaden (dpa) – Demand for business and holiday travel in Germany is on a record level. Hotels and other large accommodation facilities recorded 223.3 million overnight stays in the first half of 2025, despite a decrease in demand from abroad. This figure is 0.1 percent above the previous record observed in 2024, the Federal Statistical Office reports.

The statisticians believe that the 12.7 percent decrease in visitors from abroad recorded in June was due to the unusually high number registered in the previous year, when the European Football Championship attracted fans from everywhere.
