Record number of new start-ups

Boom with AI and in the software sector: German Startup Association highlights “courage and dynamism of German entrepreneurship”.

(.de) – 3,568 start-ups were founded in Germany in 2025 - more than ever before and 29 percent up on 2024. “This highlights the courage and dynamism of German entrepreneurship,” stresses Kati Ernst, deputy chair of the German Startup Association, which releases the figures. The software sector recorded the steepest rise in absolute terms by far, the number of start-ups growing from 618 in 2024 to 853 in 2025. Furthermore, 27 percent of all new start-ups use artificial intelligence as an integral part of their business model - a significant year-on-year increase.
